Sertoma, Inc. is the parent organization of all Sertoma clubs across the United States and Canada, and is organized geographically by seven regions. Sertoma, Inc. supports its clubs by providing mission oriented programs, professional development and training to help increase the effectiveness of its clubs community activities.
Sertoma changed its focus to providing comprehensive life services for adults with intellectual disabilities. We moved into our current headquarters on East Fifth Avenue in 1993 and presently serve approximately 140 people and their families. On April 11, 1912, three Kansas City, Missouri, business men, Dr. George W. Smith, Dr. Charles E. Allen, and newspaper publisher William R. Rowe, enticed community leaders to get involved.

The purpose of the facility was to create a place for individuals with disabilities to work. The 3,000 square foot facility was built on land donated by the Lombard family and opened with 11 individuals and four staff. In 1987, the name was changed to Sertoma Career Center, and served over 200 consumers.
